Statements on Survey Responses taken at the 2026 banquet:

Education: ~75% of survey respondents preferred more time with classmates over educational offerings for credit. To accommodate the wish for time to socialize with peers, the current plan is to provide 10-15 minutes of professional content on a current topic of relevance as part of the banquet agenda, similar to that which was offered at this year’s luncheon.

Individual Class Issues: Several survey suggestions related to individual class events or issues. These responses included a desire for more individual class events, a way to connect with classmates/alumni on line, a recommendation for a post card campaign for banquet attendees to send to classmates with a prompt for alumni membership and attendance at the following year’s banquet, and a reported 60% of alumni responding reported obtaining alumni information from peers.  Since these suggestions involve individual classes, an ideal mechanism for achieving these wishes would be for one or more class volunteers to develop class lists to be used for communications and social planning with classmates.  Please contact one of the alumni Board members (see above connect with board members) if you wish to be a class representative.

Dear Fellow Graduates of St Elizabeth’s Hospital S.O.N.,

It is a great honor to represent you all as President of the St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing Alumni Association. We have board members who are just as enthusiastic and committed to continuing the rich tradition of this Alumni Association.

I am filled with gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment of all the members who laid the groundwork for where we are today. We are so fortunate to be guided by their legacy. On a personal note, I want to specifically thank Annette McGourty, Fran Nelligan, and Marty Daniels. The countless hours you have poured into this association and the selfless guidance you've offered the current board have truly shown the love you have for this organization and its members. Thank you for shaping us, and for your incredible generosity with your time.

Our hope is to keep this alumni association strong and keep to its founding mission of promoting the spiritual and cultural interests of the nursing profession; and rendering mutual help and comfort to one another in time of sickness, misfortune or need.

Please take the time to review this website, join our association, and come to our yearly banquet. We know that our graduates are our strength and we would like to be a source of friendship and good for each other and others.

With gratitude,

Susanne Hegarty Johnson Class of ‘83

Dear fellow graduates and members of the St. Elizabeth Hospital S.O.N.,

It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that I have passed on the role of President of our Alumni Association

 effective April 13, 2025.

My decision was made following many hours of self-reflection and a question of what becomes most important in one’s “journey of seventeen years”.

Now that the decision has been made; I am forever grateful for each personal relationship afforded me as well as each challenge we faced “head on” together. I leave with a great sense of honor and pride for the accomplishments made during my tenure as President as well as the opportunity to work with and for such amazing women/men.

I leave you all in very capable hands with a Leader and board members who are as passionate and committed to our traditions and our mission.

In closing; as I embark on “new beginnings”, please know that my journey has been most rewarding.

I hope that I have served you well.

With Gratitude and Thanks,

Annette M Walsh McGourty RN 68’
